How to make it
Ingredients (for 6 pieces, adjust ×2 for 2 people)
A) “Samosa filling” (simple)
Use any easy filling you like. Here’s a fast basic vegan version:
- 1 cup boiled mashed potatoes (about 2 medium potatoes), cooled
- 1/2 cup cooked green peas (optional but great)
- 1–1.5 tsp cumin
- 1/2–1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp coriander powder (or extra cumin)
- 1/2–1 tsp red chili powder (optional)
- Salt + black pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp oil (or skip if using non-stick)
Mix all until a thick, scoopable filling.
Shape into 6 small balls (each ~15 g).
If you already have a samosa filling, use that instead—steps below stay the same.
B) Easy coating mixture (no wrapper)
- AP flour 2 tbsp
- Semolina (rava) 1 tbsp
- Carom seeds (ajwain) 1/2 tsp
- Black sesame seeds 1 tbsp
- Salt 1/4–1/2 tsp
- Little oil 1 tsp (just a bit helps crisping)
Plain water for dipping (as needed)
Instructions (very easy method)
- Shape filling balls: Make 6 balls (about 15 g each). Keep them chilled 10–15 minutes.
- Make dry coating mix: In a bowl mix AP flour + semolina + ajwain + black sesame + salt + little oil.
- Coat each ball:Dip a ball quickly in plain water (just enough to wet the surface)
- Immediately roll it in the dry mix until coated nicely
- Place on a lightly oiled plate
- Repeat for all balls
- Air fry:Preheat air fryer to 180°C / 360°F
- Spray or lightly brush tops with oil
- Air fry 12–16 minutes, shaking/turning halfway, until deep golden and crisp.
- Cool 2–3 minutes before eating (coating crisps as it cools).
Nutritional value (estimated)
Because exact nutrition depends on:
- how much potato/peas are used,
- the exact amount of coating per bite,
- and whether you add oil before air frying,
I’ll give a reasonable estimate for 6 pieces = 1 person portion where each piece is ~15 g and you air-fry with minimal oil.
Per person (6 pieces, ~90 g total)
- Calories: ~320–520 kcal
- Protein: ~7–12 g
- Carbohydrates: ~45–75 g
- Fat: ~8–18 g
- Fiber: ~4–10 g
- Sodium: depends on salt used (roughly 400–900 mg)
For 2 people (12 pieces total)
Just double the above totals.
